Mary Josephine (Morrisroe) Whalen, 90, of Rowan Street, Providence, passed away peacefully in Providence on November 3rd surrounded by her family.
Daughter of the late Beatrice (Carroll) and Joseph M. Morrisroe.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard Whalen.
Children John R. Whalen and wife Robin of Narragansett, Timothy F. Whalen and his wife Dianna of Narragansett, and Marianne B. Whalen of Cranston. Six grandchildren and late brother Richard Morrisroe.
Mary attended Blessed Sacrament School and St. Patrick’s High School in Providence.
She was very active in her church and City politics and was an avid reader. She loved her crossword puzzles especially the weekly Star. Mary loved her family Sunday dinners.
She was a faithful member of the "Peppy Pals" a group of childhood friends who met for lunch often to share laughs and memories.
A viewing will be held Wednesday November 6 from 5-7 pm in the Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations 925 Chalkstone Avenue Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to a mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, Providence followed by interment in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
